Magic Ring

Also known as: Magic circle, adjustable ring, magic loop

An adjustable starting ring that can be pulled tight to close the center hole. Essential for amigurumi and anything worked in the round.

How to Magic Ring

1. Wrap yarn around 2 fingers, creating a ring. 2. Insert hook through the ring, yarn over, pull up a loop. 3. Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch). 4. Work your first round of stitches INTO the ring. 5. Pull the tail to close the ring tight.

💡 Pro Tips

Practice the magic ring on thick yarn first. After round 1, pull the tail to close, then weave in the tail securely. Some use ch-4 joined with sl st as an alternative.
