Back Loop Only
Also known as: BLO
Working through only the back loop of a stitch instead of both loops. Creates a ridged texture and more stretchy fabric.
How to Back Loop Only
1. Identify the two loops at the top of each stitch.
2. The back loop is the one FURTHEST from you.
3. Insert your hook under the back loop ONLY.
4. Complete your stitch as normal.
💡 Pro Tips
BLO creates visible horizontal ridges — great for ribbing on hat brims and cuffs. It also makes the fabric stretchier.
