Moss Stitch

Also known as: Linen stitch, granite stitch, woven stitch

Single crochets separated by chain-1 spaces, with each row working its sc into the spaces below. It makes a flat, tidy fabric that looks woven, and it is beautiful in stripes.

How to Moss Stitch

1. Work over an odd number of stitches. 2. Setup row: sc in first st, *ch 1, skip next st, sc in next st*, repeat across. 3. Next row: sc in first st, sc in next ch-1 sp, *ch 1, skip next st, sc in next ch-1 sp*, repeat to the last st, sc in last st. 4. Next row: sc in first st, ch 1, skip next st, *sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, skip next st*, repeat to the last st, sc in last st. 5. Repeat steps 3 and 4.

💡 Pro Tips

Change colour every two rows for the classic woven look. Use a hook one size up — it is a firm fabric.
