Front Post Double Crochet
Also known as: FPdc, raised dc front
Worked around the post (vertical bar) of the stitch below from the front, creating a raised ridge. Key to cables and ribbing.
How to Front Post Double Crochet
1. Yarn over.
2. Insert hook from FRONT to BACK to FRONT around the post of the stitch below.
3. Yarn over, pull up a loop.
4. Complete as a regular double crochet (yarn over, through 2, yarn over, through 2).
💡 Pro Tips
Alternating fpdc and bpdc creates ribbing that looks like knit ribbing. Great for hat brims and cuffs.
