Crocodile Stitch
Also known as: Croc stitch, scale stitch
Overlapping scales made by working double crochets down the post of one stitch and up the post of the next. Makes dragon scales, mermaid tails and feathers.
How to Crocodile Stitch
1. Work a base row of V-stitches (pairs of dc with a gap between pairs).
2. Scale row: working around the posts of one V, work 5 dc down the first post, ch 1, then 5 dc up the second post.
3. Sl st in the centre of the next V, and repeat the scale on the following V.
4. Next rows offset the scales so they overlap.
💡 Pro Tips
Turn the work as you go so you are always working downward on the first post. Uses a lot of yarn.
