Star Stitch
Also known as: Marguerite stitch, daisy stitch
Each star gathers loops from several stitches into one, closed with a chain called the eye. Rows of stars alternate with rows of single crochet, and the fabric comes out thick, warm and full of little stars.
How to Star Stitch
1. Star row (right side): ch 3. For the first star, pull up a loop in the 2nd and 3rd ch of the chain and in each of the next 3 stitches (6 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through all 6, ch 1 — that chain is the eye.
2. Every later star: pull up a loop in the eye of the last star, in the side of its last loop, in the same stitch as its last loop and in each of the next 2 stitches (6 loops), yarn over, pull through all 6, ch 1.
3. Next row: ch 1, 3 sc in the first eye, 2 sc in each eye across.
4. Repeat those two rows. Work over an odd number of stitches.
💡 Pro Tips
Pull every loop up to the same height. Don't forget the eye chain — the next row works into it.
