Shell Stitch Fabric
Also known as: Fan stitch rows
Rows of 5-dc shells, each row's shells sitting between the shells below, so the whole fabric is made of overlapping fans.
How to Shell Stitch Fabric
1. Work over a multiple of 6 stitches plus 1.
2. Row A: sc in first st, *skip 2 sts, 5 dc in next st, skip 2 sts, sc in next st*, repeat across.
3. Row B: 3 dc in first st, *skip 2 sts, sc in next st (the centre of a shell), skip 2 sts, 5 dc in next st (a sc)*, repeat to the last 6 sts, skip 2 sts, sc in next st, skip 2 sts, 3 dc in last st.
4. Repeat rows A and B.
💡 Pro Tips
The half shells (3 dc) at the ends of row B keep the edges straight.
