Shell Stitch
Also known as: Fan stitch
Multiple stitches (usually 5 dc) worked into the same stitch, creating a fan or shell shape. One of the most beautiful and versatile stitch patterns.
How to Shell Stitch
1. Work 5 dc (or number specified by pattern) all into the same stitch.
2. The stitches will naturally fan out into a shell shape.
3. Usually followed by skipping 1-2 stitches, then sc or sl st to anchor.

The number of stitches in a shell can vary (3, 5, 7). More stitches = bigger shell. Shells are usually separated by single crochets.
