Decrease

Also known as: sc2tog, invisible decrease

Combines two stitches into one, reducing your stitch count. Used for shaping, closing amigurumi, and tapering.

How to Decrease

1. Insert hook into first stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. 2. Insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook). 3. Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops. 4. Two stitches are now one.

💡 Pro Tips

For amigurumi, use the invisible decrease: insert hook through front loops only of the next 2 stitches, then complete as normal. Much neater!
